It was an old creation I wanted to revive, the VML (IE only) original is still on-line : http://www.dhteumeuleu.com/dht...ensIM.html

The SVG conversion was a real pain… many issues due to inconsistent / buggy SVG implementation across browsers :

    - IE won’t support SVG filters – had fall back to manage shadows by script (if someone is figuring out)
    - most browsers (but IE this time) won’t allow the svg elements to display outside of their svg container (overflow:visible CSS property won’t work) – had to baddly hack the script to fake the effect
    - Last but not least, SVG won’t support zIndex – while I can understand the logic with the direct painting html5 canvas model, it’s just an unnacceptable oversight in SVG.

    (stay foolish!!)

    Excellent work.

Geez man, your objective persistence is inspiring. I also test my work on different browsers and sometimes they can be a real pain. But I know my work is much easier than your. I’m just worried about stuff like css positioning in IE and alike.

    Much respect man …
