I think there’s an omission in your source code?

needs to have left:0;

I just tried it in IE8/Chrome and without the addition it works but IE7 and FF (3.6.6) seem to need it.

Hi all. wonderful script. I really appreciate that it xml-driven. I have three questions though:

1. Is there a way to stop/start the slide show? And to add manual control buttons?

2. Instead of moving LTR then RTL, would it be an easy change to make the show circular (after seeing the end slide, the script sees slide 1)?

3. Is it hard to add hooks so that, when the front image is clicked, a new javascript is invoked (highslide.js).

4. (Never could count). What constitutes a commercial license. Many sites are made for artists. They are -welll – electronic business cards. They do not sell products. Is that commercial?

My page has performance problems, too. The problem should be in the size of the reflected images created with canvas/DXImageTransform: they’re about 600Kb agains 80Kb of the “original” ones.
Is there a way to pass to drawImage a sort of “quality” parameter?

Your gallery-scripts looked perfect for displaying sample items until I completed the site. Is there a way to get permission to use your code? If not, I understand. I am in the process of updating my website from one that is hobby oriented to a more professional look and feel, as I’m trying to start my own one-man design company. I would very much like to make use of your gallery-scripts to showcase my projects and movies, but as my website will turn into a commercial one (in that it has to generate interest for my work), I think the Creative Commons License will not suffice… Is there a solution to this dilemma?

the part of the code that get data from xml file is after the line “/* —- parse xml —- */ ” in source code.
This part of code parse the xml file chargin it by ajax and get the readed data to diapo function into the FOR cycle.

You should change this part of code reading data from an other source of data and gettin it to diapo function into a FOR cycle.

I hope this can help you and good luck learning javascript (you have to be very patient to learn programation).

in firefox it works very well without performance problem.
In other browser like Chrome or IE with image size bigger than 1024px it get some performance problem in these browser.

Time ago i read that canvas should be the best solution for static rendering and SVG for animation rendering in most browser. Should be this the performance issue in some case ?

Because in IE I was using the legacy flipv + alpha filters for this gradient effect with acceptable animation performance. But in the other standard browsers, using CANVAS and the createLinearGradient method to achieve the same effect, I encountered severe performance issues if I remember well. Plain opacity was the best compromise.

Anyway, I should take some time to update this script, and experiment with CSS 3 and CSS Transform that are coming around

I luckily discoverd this site by accident. I love your demo. I am an old windows based programmer just starting to learn how to program for the web and I have always wanted to get involved with layout, design and graphics. Is there any way to use a recordset instead of an xml file. I haven’t been able to get the inline code to work. Your app has gotten me to begin to learn javascript. I’m stuck on loading data from an xml file vs a data or recordset. I’m stuck on the syntax to do this.
